As the Ice Age ended, Tualatin was carved by gigantic floods bursting down from today’s Montana and Canada. The waters moved icebergs carrying unusual boulders as large as cars. Called “glacial erratics” (see quartzite above) these monoliths are still being discovered today. In recent times the bones of mastodons, sloths and other mega-fauna have been discovered and are now on display in Tualatin. The Tualatin Chamber of Commerce, City of Tualatin, Tualatin Historical Society and Washington County Visitors Association are working to position Tualatin as a gateway to learning about natural history and a tourist destination.

On Tuesday, January 10th the WCCCP hosted the First Congressional District 1 Candidates Debate between Rob Cornilles (R) and Suzanne Bonamici (D), the primary-winning candidates seeking to fill David Wu's vacated seat in Congress.
The Washington County Chamber of Commerce Partnership (WCCCP) is a collaboration of eight regional organizations that serve Washington County to further the interests of businesses. Members include Chambers of Commerce in Banks, Beaverton, Forest Grove, Greater Hillsboro, Tualatin, Tigard, Sherwood and Wilsonville.
This event was well-attended and well-received. The audience of approximately 300 had a chance to 'submit a question' to the candidate via a notecard prior to the event, after which the WCCCP chose a handful to be used in the debate. The debate was lively and informational and many goers went away with more insight and understanding about the candidates.
Complete ballots must be received at an official drop-off site in the 1st congressional District by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31st.
We here at the Chamber encourage you to "GET OUT AND VOTE!"
