HOME: Office eventually moves to its current location near the lake. STAFF: Marianne Pratt has left and is replaced by Hope Howard. Kelli Galvin comes back as receptionist and leaves again; Erika Harrison comes and goes as Membership Director; Victoria Brown comes and goes as Director of the TMA.

EVENTS:
Tualatin Chamber 20th Anniversary. “Taking Care of Business” is the theme for the year. In May, David Nagel steps down as president, Neta George installed as new president.

Celebrate Tualatin is a new event in 2001. Chamber is also holding quarterly Educational AM’s, Lunch & Learn series, Chamber Day at the Capitol. Transportation Management Association committee kicks off Carpooler Reward program.

IMPORTANT ISSUES:
Business Advocacy Committee holds Legislative breakfast. In October, the Tualatin Chamber joins fellow chambers across the country by joining the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce. Dues will provide financial assistance to chamber members in New York City. Chamber Board takes position on workplace smoking ordinance and sign codes.

MISCELLANEOUS:
new members / 230 renewals.
Newsletter still 12 pages long and
printed in Orange / Black
Member Appreciation Day on January 30th. Volunteers deliver 20th anniversary presents to every chamber member.
Committees: Board, Finance, Executive, Ambassadors, Grupo Latino, Ad hoc Proposal Review, TMA, Celebrate Tualatin, Business Advocacy, Business Education Programs, Crawdaddy Open, Membership, Holiday Auction. 102 committee members in all.
Ed Casey tapped as Interim Executive Director while a replacement for Marianne is found. 45 applications received for position.

POLITICAL:
Board endorses Columbia River deepening and opposes ballot measures dealing with government provided insurance and tying the minimum wage increase to the CPI.

Chamber holds lunch forum with City Council candidates; Chamber board adopts a resolution stating the Washington County Commissioners should proceed with money to fund a study to develop and implement a plan that provides for sufficient north-south roadway capacity between Hillsboro and I-5, currently called the Westside High Speed North/South Connection.

IMPORTANT ISSUES:
TMA starts charging nonmember employees .50c each way to ride the shuttle; Novellus Systems arrives in Tualatin; Chamber website is now under construction! Chamber will start sending blast emails in place of blast faxes


MISCELLANEOUS:
Newsletter increases to 16 pages.
Business card from lunch drawing now appearing on the front page of the newsletter.
Celebrate Tualatin televised and re-broadcast on TVTV, 130 in attendance.
Gold Club members have lunch with the Washington County Commissioners.
