The Tualatin Chamber has developed a very important and creative approach to the health care debate. Through our Tualatin Fit City Challenge partners we are focusing on personal responsibility for improving health and wellness by increasing daily activity and improving diet one day at a time. It's an obvious win for our many health care providers but it's also a win for our total community. Healthy employees miss fewer days of work each year and help to drive down health care costs. Growing healthy kids has become a major priority with the onset of childhood obesity. This concept has been embraced by our City, Schools and Business Community. It also mirrors a campaign that is working its way across the county called Fit City and or the Mayor's Initiative (check out Tulsa, Oklahoma and Oklahoma City see what their Mayor's are doing). Mayor's Challenge and OKC Million.
Under the Fit City umbrella we will be the "Go To" place for all Health and Wellness related activities or events that are happening in the greater Tualatin area. If you would like to have your event posted on our Tualatin Fit City Challenge Events page please go to our new website: www.fitcitytualatin.com

Engage the greater Tualatin Community in pursuing incremental and achievable changes in lifestyle that advance personal and community goals of improved health and wellness.
Tualatin is an example community of active, healthy people who have moved beyond obesity and illness due to lifestyle choices.
The community achieves its health improvement goals by the accomplishment of the personal goals of participating members. Personal goals are based on individualized assessments using idealized goals of optimal body weight/composition measures, moving 5 miles per week and eating 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day.
